On 29 December 2022, the Australia – India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AIECTA) will provide the following:
- Work and holiday visas – Subclass 462 – for up to 1000 Indians aged 18-31 each year
- Indian STEM students who achieve first class honours in their bachelor degrees in Australia will be given an extra year on their subclass 485 visas – three years in total.
There is also talk that the Labour Market Testing requirements applicable to some visas, such as the TSS Subclass 482 visa program, will not be applicable for Indian employees. This is yet to be confirmed.
