Gouldian finch is the most beautiful and most spectacularly coloured among Australian birds. It also known as the Lady Gouldian finch, Gould’s finch or the rainbow finch. It is small and has bright green back, yellow belly and a purple breast. Its facial colour is usually black and can be seen in about 75% percent of its population while the 25% of its population are red-face forms. The females tend to be less brightly coloured than the males.
They can be found near the water because it needs to drink a lot during the day. They can be found at edges of mangroves, thickets and savannas dotted with trees.
